Extra Credit Reading Assignments

PURPOSE

These extra credit reading assignments are designed to help you in two ways.  First, they provide additional material related to this course (they reinforce the material taught in the course as well as providing supplementary information).  Second, they give you an opportunity to slightly improve your grade.  However, they are not intended to replace the course's regular assignments.  Your best way to improve your grade is to spend more time on the regular course assignments and review frequently.

Select from the items listed below.  Some items are longer or more difficult than others, so you should look over the items before making your selection.  Links to all the items by Ron Leigh are found at the parent website.

PROCEDURE

1.  If the item is on a website, print it out.  If the item is a book on reserve in the library, make a photocopy of the chapters/pages indicated.
2.  Read the entire item carefully and thoughtfully.  IMPORTANT:  As you read, (1) underline or highlight key statements, and (2) write lots of comments in the margins.
3.  Turn in your marked up copy personally to the prof.  The prof will look it over and ask you a few questions on the spot.
