Requirements
1. ATTENDANCE: Regular class attendance. The attendance records make no distinction between excused and unexcused absences. You are responsible for the material covered in every class regardless of the reason for absence. In order to pass the course, students must attend at least two-thirds of the scheduled class sessions. (For Huntington College policy, see catalog page 29 under "Class Attendance").
2. READING: Reading of all assigned material in the Bible, textbooks, and other sources. (Since this course attempts to cover the whole Bible in one semester, the reading assignments do not include every chapter in the Bible.)
3. QUIZZES: Taking quizzes, which will usually occur on Thursdays. Quizzes may cover anything recently covered in class or in the assigned reading. If you are absent for a quiz: (1) it should be made up as soon as possible, and (2) it will include different questions than the regular quiz. At the end of the semester, a perfect score will be substituted for your lowest quiz score.
4. EXAMS: Taking the midsemester and final exam. A makeup exam is different than the regular exam. (For Huntington College policy on final exams, see catalog page 29 under "Final Examinations").
5. SENTENCE SUMMARIES: Write summaries of every chapter that you read in the Bible. The summaries must be composed of complete sentences. Some chapters may require only one or two sentences, others may require three or four. Preferably, use a word processor so you can easily make revisions and do searches. These summaries will be submitted to the prof from time to time during the semester.
6. OBSERVATIONS & QUESTIONS: While you are reading the assigned Bible chapters and writing your sentence summaries, use a different section of your notebook to write down any observations, questions, and other thoughts that come to mind. These are for you to use during class discussions; they will not be collected or checked by the prof.
NOTE: Assignments must be done primarily by the student without extended help from others. Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated, and carry a penalty of an F for the assignment(s) or for the entire course. (For further details on Huntington College policy on honesty and plagiarism, see catalog page 27 under "Academic Honesty")
